Art and Music = Better Education

If I could add a amendment to the constitution I would make art and music apart of curriculum. Not just music classes but incorporated in core classes for projects and every day learning. At different grades there'd be different types at different levels. Mainly I would want this for elementary, middle school too. It has been proven art and music helps children better understand, especially if they are more right brained than left. This oppurtunity could possibly get kids who are struggling to better understand. My mother being a special needs teacher has showed me sometimes you just have to try things at a different angle and this could be another angle to try. On top of that it teaches children culture. Trips to art museums would be a healthy idea. Art and music although enjoyable teach us diversity and style. Our world is diverse and to handle other countries in their future will require the tolerance, hopefully acceptance and enjoyment, of other cultures.

"There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again."
-W.H. Auden

I wish I could believe that magic stayed alive as we grow older. Every year we wish while blowing out candles on birthday cakes for something. At a young age of 4 it was probably to be a princess, then at 10 to be a rockstar, now it's to be able to get a good paying job after going through years of college. The magic in growing up with dreams is gone. When your younger all you want is to get out of the house and be your own person but there's so much more than that, it's a lot of work. I believe that as we get older life can still be an adventure and a good time I just wish it didn't feel so impossible at this age when I look to my future.

I know a giant... that's 3'2"

Though my sister is only 3 foot 2 her size in no way fits her personality. She's very loud, and proud of it. She talks to anyone with an ear and will lead you to what she wants to do, not the other way around.
At times I think people act their height.. for say a tall stocky guy would be louder and prouder than a thinner shorter guy. But then you have to look at what for. The valedictorian would be proud to show his 4.0 test in calc while the star quarter back would be proud and confident enough to get that head  cheerleader as a date to homecoming. But switch.. they might feel a bit smaller than they did in their zone.
Now for physical beauty that is a subject of pure shrewdness. What is beauty? Is it the prettiest girl in school or is it the helpful hand and amazing character from the band room? Is it the out look we see or the inside? I feel like i would like quite decent if people saw my inside on my face and body. At times prettier and at times uglier. It would be funny to have that because everyone's face would constantly fluctuate in looks.

I am a saver. I'd prefer to wait a little for something so I can have more and or better. That is with items but with seeing friends and such its usually the opposite and it's hard for me to not want to see them as soon as possible, especially Justin. The article we read about this I found intriguing I think that people who wait would show better futures because they're patient. They let themselves learn and the observe quite well.
I think our generation is spenders. They need things now I mean look at our cell phones and ipods. Constant communication with instant replies. The access rarely is unavailable. Some is convienance some is teaching us to be inpatient.

"Where do you belong?".... Well I'll tell ya

The tribes I belong to are many and far between. I am a member of the crazy sock tribe. The cheez-it, pickle and dried mango (but not all together) tribe. I'm the leader of cold sometimes frozen chocolate icing lovers tribe. And the tribe of readers who love their kindles. The tribe who photographs the beauty of the world around us and the people and moments they share. I am very proud to be a part of 3rd generation Romanian tribe. And the  tribe of the love of culture. And the tribe of art lovers. And the tribe of twizzler eaters. The tribe of Justin lovers! And the tribe of soccer fans and one year players. The tribe of swim team leaders. And the tribe of retired figure skaters. The tribe of adventurers and people who never want to stop learning. The tribe of creative writers and new ideas. The tribe of mint chocolate ice cream lovers and bike riders. The tribe of travelers who wish to travel around the world and not lot anything stop them. The tribe of people who are overemotional. The tribe of little daddy's girls all grown up ready to learn the new way but still growing everyday. The tribe of little daddy's girls grown up that don't mind that he still calls her a princess. The tribe of broken families. The tribe of children growing up with step parents. The tribe of people with an extra place in their heart for special needs and there family :) The tribe of piano players. The tribe of singers and dancers. The tribe of people who dance crazy and don't care, laugh out loud, and sing in the shower however they please. The tribe of music lovers. The tribe of people who just love life.

To keep to myself? Or to SHOUT to the world?!?!?

I believe I can be both an introvert and extrovert. I like others but I also enjoy my alone time. Most of the time I'd have to say I'm an extrovert though being a loud people person. As I was younger I was all extrovert but now I have parts of both personalities. Introverts have it easier and harder if you think about it. They stick to themselves and don't have to be concerned about others but on the other hand they're usually lonely. If everyone were extroverts would our word be better or worse? When people are happy they can spread the smiles but when people are upset it would be shared and people would be angry and it could be a domino effect. If everyone was an introvert how would you know how to treat one another? Would we all sit by ourselves at lunch? Would friends be crucial like they are now? I think there should be a good balance too much of one side can be bad but each have their good qualities so why not combine the two? Strong leaders should have a good mix to be able to reach all people but should have stronger extrovert personalities to work with other. Now writings (can also be both as well) but I would say Introverts would be better because they keep all of their thoughts to themselves so they have more to spill onto the pages. Friends and neighbors should be enjoyed so they should be what you are. And teachers should vary what they are because everyone should be their own. Plus students need to learn to be with all types of people because that is how the world is.
Truly what you are shouldn't matter and I don't think either is better. Because what makes our world so wonderful is how different we all are but we all live in the same planet, how cool.

I believe...

Blogging is for expressing how we feel and giving information so I figured this video would fit perfectly.

I believe...in the power of special needs.

It's great to live for the now but even better to plan for the future

When you look at life from a different perception it can sometimes turn out to be a great thing :)

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;        5
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,        10
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.        15
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

My response: Due to the stage in my life the road I'm on has lots
forks in it. Though I have lots of decisions to make
I feel like most of the time I make the right ones
and when i don't I always try to look for a path to
get on the right one again even if it takes a little longer
my goal is to get back on the right path. My road
has some construction on it as I make mistakes and work
it out. It's being made for me and my life and not many others
travel with me. My family and Justin are traveling with me
helping me as I move the right way.  Ocaisionally we take different
paths of similar but different ways but we always come to the
same road for travel. I will have education though I'm not sure what
exactly for yet. That'll be just another fork to choose when it comes
my way when I'm ready to choose my turn when it comes. I plan
for my own family and home not just a house. I want my existence
to be known not nessicarily for fame but for being known among my friends
family and peers as a good person and someone people would
want to be. My road blocks have been many in my past but I
have always gotten through them. Though some have been quick
detours and others have taken a few recovery roads I've always
made it through. I have no doubt I'll have more in my future
to work through but I know I can do it because I've done it before.
When you take a wrong turn you learn how to go the right way and not the
wrong again.  Sometimes with a detour you see new things and
a good thing comes out of a bad. I'm going to work hard and try
my best, be my own perfection. That will ensure that my end of
the road will be a good life, one I wouldn't change or regret, one
where I dont wish I had done something but instead had. One with
joy happiness art and love :)

And the Golden Rule.....Treat others how you wish to be treated

People will see you how you display yourself. If you display hard working ethics and good grades you look smart. If you display yourself as slacking off and sleeping in class you look like a bum. You can control how people look at you by the what you do. How you treat yourself helps too when you treat yourself well it encourages others to do the same.

"You can complain roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses" - Ziggy

Life will be how you perceive it. If you perceive it negative and just see the 'thorns' of life then life is looked through 'dirty' lenses and your not as pleased. But if you see it positively, that such an ugly painful thing can have such a beautiful thing on top (the flower) then you see life in a brighter better way. It's better to see that beautiful things can come out of ugly rather then ugly things ruin beautiful things. How we look at life is our choice but it's proven even trying to look at things in a better way changes how feel for the better. In the terms 'beautiful' and 'ugly' it doesn't just have to be how things look it can be how things feel and act too.
So see the flower as beauty and instead of the thorns being a bad thing view them as a protector for it's beauty.

"What you do speaks so loud I cannot hear what you say"- Ralph Waldo Emerson
It's a great quote, kind of a deeper writing of the well known saying we're told as children, "Actions speak louder than words".The way you act around and toward people gives a much deeper impression then what you say. Your body language, facial expressions, (etc.) stick as a mental image. Usually words aren't remembered and it they are then not as well. Just something for us all to think about this week.

Behavior Analysis: Poem Style

I'm a fan of this poem because it kind of tells it how it is. There are things in life we don't really know how to explain and I think behavior is one of them. Behavior is everything we display from our emotions. However we feel comes out in however we act. Why do we in fact act the way we do and feel the way we feel? That is the real question. I like at the end how he says the effect of the universe is no greater then the daily behavior we display.

So we didn't have to post this poem but I wanted to because I think it's a pretty good read :)

BEHAVIOR--fresh, native, copious, each one for himself or herself,
Nature and the Soul expressed--America and freedom expressed--In it
the finest art,
In it pride, cleanliness, sympathy, to have their chance,
In it physique, intellect, faith--in it just as much as to manage an
army or a city, or to write a book--perhaps more,
The youth, the laboring person, the poor person, rivalling all the
rest--perhaps outdoing the rest,
The effects of the universe no greater than its;
For there is nothing in the whole universe that can be more effective
than a man's or woman's daily behavior can be,
In any position, in any one of These States.

Walt Whitman

Walt Whitman was an American poet who wrote in realism style. He was also a humanist, part of the transition from transcendentalism to realism. He work was completely contreversal for it's time, also a bit sexual. Speaking of which his sexuality seemed to be a bit of a deal because he was homosexual. He spent his life in the New York area. He seems to be a fan of writing about ocean/seas and boating.

*My favorite of his poems: The World Below the Brine

The world below the brine,

Forests at the bottom of the sea, the branches and leaves,

Sea-lettuce, vast lichens, strange flowers and seeds, the thick tangle openings, and pink turf,

Different colors, pale gray and green, purple, white, and gold, the play of light through the water,

Dumb swimmers there among the rocks, coral, gluten, grass, rushes, and the aliment of the swimmers,

Sluggish existences grazing there suspended, or slowly crawling close to the bottom,

The sperm-whale at the surface blowing air and spray, or disporting with his flukes,

The leaden-eyed shark, the walrus, the turtle, the hairy sea-leopard, and the sting-ray,

Passions there, wars, pursuits, tribes, sight in those ocean-depths, breathing that thick-breathing air, as so many do,

The change thence to the sight here, and to the subtle air breathed by beings like us who walk this sphere,

The change onward from ours to that of beings who walk other spheres.

“I am not afraid…I was born to do this.” - Joan of Arc

I love this quote :)
Today is a day where I feel like painting. Sitting down in this calm mood with music playing. Taking the brush and just painting what comes to mind. The comfort feeling of the brush stroking the paper, each touch gives a new look. More of a random abstract of colors, odd shapes, doodles and things that don't normally go together. But Art is art there is no true definition it's what you make it.

Biology Article

I wasn't sure where I was suppose to write this Ms.Brant so it's gonna go here.lol
The article you had us read questioning the need for 2 spindles during cell division was an interesting one.
Abstract:
A mandatory step of cell division is pulling apart the chromosomes to make the daughter cells. Scientists know that the spindle-like structures formed by polymerized tubulin plays an important role in cell division. The Iowa State team, led by Kristen Johansen, has found a new spindle made up of proteins from the nucleus. By using high tech. microscopes they can tell it is in fact a real spindle. Many things are still unknown about the interactions between the microtubules pull the chromosomes but the new nuclear spindle structure may be able to provide the answers to many of these questions. The team hopes this will help explain the abnormal cell division in cancer cells. That will be awesome because once they understand it creating a treatment for it will be a lot more possible.

Vocabulary:
tubulin- either of two globular proteins that form the structural subunits of microtubules
segregation- seperation

Is the past truly in the past?

Different people have different stands on the past. Andre Maurois said, "A man cannot free himself from the past more easily than he can from his own body." While on the other side of things Oscar Wilde said "The one charm of the past is that it is the past." So is the past something to be forgotten or is it something that shouldn't be? My personal opinion is that the past should in fact be valued and remembered but only for the right reasons. We learn from our past mistakes and that creates a better life for us. Because, when we're smart, we remember how it effected us and don't repeat it again. America herself has learned from her past with wars and such. History repeats itself just look around. China is going through their industrial revolution fighting for better pay, safer working conditions and no more child labor. Sound familiar? We did it 150 years ago. I do agree with Domenico Cieri Estrada's statement "Bring the past only if you are going to build from it." though. We should remember the past to fix it we should not dwell over it. Dwelling is a waste of emotion just like regret. You did it it's over, living through life regretting that you did or did not do something is not the way to live. I will end this blog with one of my favorite quotes because it's absolutely true.
What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment.  And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new.  Right now.  ~Author Unknown

Sophmore Year

This year has defiantly been a new experiance. Among the new teachers and subjects, new friends, and being in a new grade it feels different for some reason. Perhaps I feel smarter? More grown up? I don't know. It's not all a bad thing though (other then a ton of extra homework) I'm enjoying my classes I have to say Marine Biology is my favorite, anyone else taking it? Ocean is kind of my thing other then art so that's why I'm taking it. I love the ocean other then the fact it's the perfect model for art it also just give me this happy feel like..like it's just me and my loves for life and there's nothing bad. Boating is a blast I love going on catermarans and sitting on the front end holding on for dear life but moving with the water and feeling the crashing waves spray on my face. My favorite is snorkeling, getting to be apart of the underwater world and getting to see the fish up close and personal. Anyways back to school. I look forward to keeping up my good grades and awesome creative projects! Can't wait for homecoming, see ya all there :)
